Georgia bring me a soda

source

I've been on a lazy mood for 2 weeks now. All I want is an ice Coca Cola and some fried plantains. {these are green ones, and oh so easy to make}. I have not exercise since 16 days ago *sigh*

Apparently my mojo has gone bye bye. I need to get back on the mood, granted there are all sorts of things going right now: preparing for college for Alain, having friends visit, and let's not forget my Sister having baby Owen. I wuw him.

I am happy because it is allowing me to spend more family time, even Alain who is your typical 18 yr old and has that-I'm too cool to hang attitude, has been spending tons of time with us, going out, joining me to see the baby. And it's oh so nice. Even though I did indulge on the cupcakes, I am very cautious of my portions, most of the cupcakes where cut in 4 pieces so we could all taste them. That's got to count for something.

Not much to tell besides that, and that I'm reading the 4th book on the "twilight" saga, and darn it, I'm liking it! UGH, so irritated that my Sister was right.

Off to bed, is 12:08am, time to read for a bit and then to dreamland. Tomorrow I'm doing some spring cleaning and hanging with the Sister again...and maybe, just maybe a Cheesecake Ice cream cake may be involve (is her hubby's Bday).

Almost forgot, I order 2 more polishes from Zoya (meh) because of their BOGO but they seriously SUCK when it comes to CS. It has been 2 weeks and still I have not received them. I give up.

Above is faye, below Tamsem. Get here already!

A tale of a cupcake, a bra and recalculating

We live on the East coast, and even though I'm mostly familiar with the areas closer to NYC such as NJ, but as we take in all that this area has to offer we seem to be enjoying more and more being here.

Our friend Ada decided to come down from NYC and hang with us for the weekend, which meant going around town and showing her a good time that didn't required hiring a male performer willing to dress as a fireman, not that we where opposed to doing that for our friend, because after all we are nothing if not AMAZING friends; but because it would not be very politically correct to enter that kind of establishment with a toddler and a teenager. Just saying.

Besides showing her the usual: The White House, DC area and the Inner Harbor we {and by we, I mean ME} figures that we could try to go to good old Georgetown and try one of the famous DC Cupcakes from the hit series on TLC. The actual place is Georgetown Cupcakes and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

But first here are some pics of our day around DC...

Above is the back entrance to the White House and below a group of people that decided to tour DC driving SEGWAYS, how cool is that?!

And of course we decided to try to climb the fence. While I'm out it we saw some of the security enter for their shift, I wont discuss here but WAY TO GO WHITE HOUSE, So freaking cool. I though for a moment they where filming "National Treasure".

Walking around the front garden we found a couple taking their wedding pictures, awwww...what we do for love, 'cause let me tell you It.WAS.COLD!

When we finally got to Georgetown, she decided she was going to be a great friend and act like a nutcase and take pictures with immobile objects. Love it.

Ok, so on to the cupcakes, this is what we saw once we approach it:

The line went to the end of the block so we separated; the hubs and the kids hang around the town, bought drinks and walk around a small mall so the baby wouldn't be cold, and Ada and I made the line so we could gossip :)

She was such a trooper, even saying that we had to make a line just 'cause we need to see what the deal was with these cupcakes. Leave it to us to enjoy making a line for an hour and 40 minutes!

Behold the glorious cupcakes:

Above L to R: Red Velvet, chocolate vanilla, Salted caramel, Vanilla & chocolate.

Above: Key lime, coconut, salted caramel, Irish creme
Mil chocolate Bday, chocolate ganache, Mint cookies, Peanut butter
Chocolate3, chocolate bday, chocolate2, vanilla2

Here is Ada with them, we where ready to attack. While getting around town, Geepe {as we call our lovely GPS} decided to go crazy and after every turn she decided to start "RECALCULATING" leaving me at one point having a laughing attack because I knew it was coming and we where going around in circles, took us twice the time to get home but it was so worth it.

After trying the cupcakes they where as amazing as they sound. My favorites are Key lime and Salted caramel. Now mind you, they have specials for each day so I still have more to try. I so totally would do the line again, but you don't have too :) you can order them here and they will ship it to you Georgetown Cupcakes

Since Ada's camera had die I offered to take pics of her around the town, the next day it was the Inner Harbor. I wont include every pic since this is already too many but you get the idea...

Her and I where laughing so hard when we started to talk about breast and I told her that mine where an optical allusion: the belly was pushing them up so they always "looked" like they where so lifted and perky. Aww the joys of girl talk. BTW for those who doubt about men and women being friends, she is an old friends of the hubs from even before we got together and now is a good friend of both of us :) we certainly enjoyed having her visit and we hope to go see her and the rest of the family in NYC soon.

Hope you enjoy my little tour. Wishing you cupcake dreams (let me not remind myself that I probably gained my entire weight back)

Friend Making Monday 3-28-11

Wow, that was a fun weekend! I had such a blast with a friend of ours that came to visit from NYC. Seems to me the more I focus on my life and family the less time I have to blog :( but I cannot resist Friend Making Monday's; I try really hard to get into it even if it's a little late {right now I'm taking a break from doing laundry} so here it is:

FMM: A Few More
Gender-Friendly Questions

1)
What is your favorite physical feature? I love so many things about me. When I see people with many physical disadvantages makes me appreciate mine more and be thankful. But I have to say my eyes, legs and my behind even though and more so because is HUGE! :)

2)
List three adjectives that describe you. friendly, helpful and a procrastinator.

3) How old were you when you had your first kiss? I was 10, and it was so freaking scary, we both panicked afterwards. After that I pretended to have a boyfriend at 14 and every time we where supposed to meet I would run away from him.

4)
Do you believe in God? ABSOLUTELY and with all my heart :)

5)
How often do you watch the news? not much, bad news affect me too much, I cry all the time, seriously. I try to read mostly online but I try to keep it to a minimum. The hubs usually keeps me informed with things he knows I can handle.

So there you have it. I'm off to finish laundry, make steaks for dinner and visit my Sis. I'll be back with a post about our great weekend and the amazing experience tasting 15 different types of cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcakes aka TLC's DC Cupcakes!

Birchbox box #1

I had mentioned before that I was trying Birchbox after hearing such great reviews from bloggers and youtube Gurus. The $10 a month, which includes the shipping, is something more doable for me. This is a first impression on my very first box.

I love their pretty pink box and the way the items are packaged

This is what came on my box, I noticed that sometimes they ran out of items and some people may received different items...

Cargo Lash Activator Mascara

Marvis Classic Mint Toothpaste

AHAVA Revival Bath Salt in Mandarin-Cedarwood

AHAVA Dermud Enriched Intensive Foot Cream

Pangea Organics Lip Balm

At first I was not impressed since I only got one makeup related item, the mascara, which by the way cost $35 and never would I've paid that much. I was glad to try it. Then I saw that the lip balm alone cost $12, I got a full size which means it cover the cost of the $10 and then some. As I researched these seem like all the items are great quality and a bit pricey, items that otherwise I would have never tried like a tooth paste from Italy {I swear by my Crest 3D white}.

Some of the previous items include NARS, Bennefit, Kiehls, Laura Mercier, Bare Minerals, etc.You also collect points for every box you get and additional items that you purchase full size.

So far I've tried the balm and the mascara, both which impressed me a great deal. I'm leaving the tooth paste for a guest that's coming this weekend. I think creating a little gift basket out of these kind of items would be so adorable and decadent.

Would I order again? yes. Definitely. I think the items are great, the samples are BIG and even if I don't try something I can give it in a cute makeup bag for one of my Sister's or niece. I think you should try it too.

Can't wait to get my next box!

Friend Making Monday's: for the boys

I've been away for the longest time that I could remember. Is a good thing since I'm focusing on getting the Hubs to all his appointments (he is hard of hearing and needs me around, don't let me talk about the fact he is not using a hearing device) and getting Alain ready for college. Then add the new baby in the family and my Goddaughter's Birthday. Busy, busy here. As always I could not resist Kenz Friend Making Monday's so here it is once again:

FMM: Giving the Boys A Chance
1. Who is your pick for the Final Four?
This is a perfect question for the Hubs but not me. There is one sport that I hate with a passion and it's Basketball. Seriously.

2. What is your favorite workout/fitness activity?
One that I cannot do right now but I dream that one day I will be doing constantly: Running!

source

3. Do you have a favorite healthy snack? Something that REALLY hits the
spot?
Bananas! they fill me up and I feel happy afterward :)

4. What is your dream car?
Funny thing is that the Hubs family dreams that, like Kenz, we move to the city and not have to have a car. For me I KNOW I will own a Range Rover one day. Working it with "The Secret" baby.

5. Have you set any goals for yourself this month? What are they?
Yes. Last week was bad for us because of the whole Birthday thing, we enjoyed an Ice Cream bar, not that we gulped gallons of ice cream but we should have done better. We are setting goals to get back to our routine and as soon as is warmer the Hubs and I are going to start jogging together in the AM.

Maybe I should also make a goal of blogging more this week :)

Rodrigo has been kidnapped!!!

Rodrigo is my car.

What? I know y'all name your vehicles, don't you? My first car was called the "Hot wheels" as in boys toys, because it looked exactly like one. It was so tiny and whomever sat on the back would be guarantee to get sunburned. Here is a pic of the same color, make and model:

source

Rodrigo is our current SUV.

So yesterday a police car stopped me, which it just kills me since anyone that knows me knows I drive like a grandma. I've been driving for almost 20 yrs and I have no speeding tickets, no accidents, no violations etc. Turns out one of the back braking lights was off; one that I paid about 2 months ago to the dealer to fix btw. A few months back I got stopped and they said that my license was suspended (it is from another state so they said they could not tell me why). I paid $200 for it to be restore and have 2 copies of it { I still don't know why it was suspended since I payed online}. Well I'll be dame that I couldn't find the copy last night so of course they told me the car was going to be tolled. GREAT.

I got lucky and they said to find someone to drive it to the parking lot, since we where at the airport so it didn't have to be tolled. So Rodrigo had to sleep overnight there. All alone and away from me. *sniff*

Today I'm going to have a friend drive it back just in case, and tomorrow after I drop the hubs for his Nuclear EKG I'll be having a blast at Motor vehicles.

I will admit this is my fault since I'm a procrastinator and haven't change anything- license, registration or plates- to our new state. Unfortunately with being on a budget and so many other important things happening this was not on my priority list. Guess is going to have to be.

Oh, and top of having to pay parking and all the other fees, I have to go to court too. And the police officer kept my license :( so no clue how that is going to work. And our microwave died last night. Bwahahahahaha, everything happens at the same time, doesn't it?

Time to go, Aiden decided to wear the quesadilla I made him for lunch as a hat :)

(I so need a manicure so I can relax!)

Another friend Making Monday- Survey

Hello Lovers.
This weekend was actually one that we enjoyed tremendously. As previously said, on Thursday we welcomed to our family my little nephew Owen, I'm completely in love and if it wasn't because my little guy just farted and laugh about it, I would even be tempted to have another one right now. Got to remember they DO grow up.

The Hubs and I went out a few times since the weekend was finally nice. We packed our little guy {oldest decided to stay} and our niece, and enjoy a long walk in the mall, stopped at both MAC -as in computers, and MAC-as in makeup so you know I was happy as a whore on a fair.

Since is Monday : All the weigh has another happy survey Monday for us, go check it out. Here are my answers:

FMM: We Heart Surveys!

1) What's your favorite brand of make-up? Are you loyal to one brand? nope, I'm a makeup junkie. I love everything from MAC, Tarte, ELF, NYX, L'Oreal, etc. but must of my stuff right now is from Urban Decay.

2) What is the last thing you drank? Water, and it felt good. I'm growing people!

3) What's your favorite Girl Scout cookie? I very rarely buy these because I never see them around us, but when I do I go for the Samoas (Caramel Delight), mind as well indulge.

4) French Fries or Onion Rings? funny, I never really eat them when they come with my food but seasoned fries are good; or something that I had in Jersey called Disco fries, lets just say that you would need to boogie for a few hours to burn the calories from them.

5) Share something you've done in the last week that makes you proud of yourself. I was going to say something else, and then remember how proud I was when wewhile eating out I actually asked for a salad instead of a burger. Result? I lost 1 more pound :)

6) What is your favorite inexpensive indulgence? Doing my nails, love it, it relaxes me, is my time. This which includes indulging on nail polish like Kenz.

Above is one of my Favorites "For Audrey", below is what I'm currently wearing "Little Drummer boy"

7)
Are you currently reading a book? If so, which one?Just finished James Patterson "Double Cross", re-reading now "Cross" and 3rd book of Twilight "Eclipse" (Don't judge, love Vampires so I have to read it to have a fair review).

8)
Do you prefer to text or talk? Definitely talk, half the time I don't get the short text.

9)
Have you ever performed on stage? Gawd no, unless you count a very bad rendition of "It's not Unusual" during Karaoke hour.

10)
Are you more likely to pick truth or dare? It used to be dare, but at this ripe age *cough, cough* I rather pick truth .

So there you have it folks, another wonderful Monday gone and ready for an amazing week. I'm so glad I did all my food shopping today so I can concentrate on doing my weekly meal plan. Now Off to bed!
{or at least try to sleep}

Blessed :)

This week has been so crazy for me. Yesterday was an amazing day, despite that I only got one hour of sleep (yes, one. Went to bed at 3am and woke up at 4am). It was so cloudy and rainy, and we all know how much I love me some rain :)

My Darling Sis had her little boy! Here he is:

Look at his hair, all I want to do is squeeze him and smell him- yes, smell him...I love babies!

Here is my little niece, now a big sister...she kept telling me that he was sooo cute with her best girly voice.

I was so honored to change his first diaper and didn't even mind when he made a mess on my hand...he is just so beautiful and angel like... THANK YOU GOD!
And seeing that today there is so much sadness in the world with all that is happening I have to be thankful for what we have and for my family.

I'll be back this weekend!

Yes, I would date Steven Tyler

oops, sorry. That was meant as a response for when they ask me " can I ask you a question?". Being normal is just not an option for me.

This week has been full of concerns and worries, thankfully today Sunday {or rather yesterday since is 2:30am} it rained buckets. A perfect excuse to get my wellies on and go get a newspaper with hubs- a girl needs her coupons ya' know. I just love going out in the rain, walking with the hubs. We left the kiddos at home because the little guy has the croups but is doing soooo much better already, so we didn't want to get him sick again.

Anyways, hubs got hi EKG done this week and again it was abnormal. Not only that but the Dr. said that if he didn't know his medical history he would think he had something major (myocarditis) and a lot of pain {which the hubs has not} so a Nuclear EKG is needed along with another batch of test. SIGH. The Cardiologist said that even though the hubs is young, we have to be sure of whats going on, that he has patients younger than him that had a bypass already.

I think the worst part is that the Hubs doesn't see the problem here. He actually got mad at me because he feels like I'm going over board. Let's review, shall we?: Thyroid condition, weight condition, possible surgery, Abnormal EKG, test, test, and more test. NOPE I don't think I am going overboard.

dammed Ricky Martin is hot!
Sorry, ADD kicked as I saw him on a tv commercial. *cough, cough* let's get back.
Between that and me feeling like I'm failing with my new healthy habits, is has been not such a great week. I have lots 5lbs and I feel I should be doing better, I know I'm still eating tons of bread, rice and stuff that I shouldn't. of course the Hubs thinks is ok and that I'm doing good, which I know I am not. I have to get back on being motivate and seeing the goal ahead.

And then my Sis made these:

Nutella cupcakes! PLEASE KILL ME NOW.

She is bring in some here to my oldest and even though I want to try them, I feel like I shouldn't because is going to throw my entire week off. My goal this week is to get the 4-5 days of exercise, drink even more water, cut the bread intake in half. I KNOW I CAN!!! if only I could get some sleep I'll be golden.

Oh, and while browsing around I found this idea thru Small place Style blog, we have a shelf in Ali's bedroom so we wanted to add more since he is going to college but didn't know how to add, and VOILA- look at this. This is perfect for his room and I can't wait to try it. A trip to IKEA is in our future :)

what have you been up to?

Top 2 Things youve learned about Money

The Undomesticated Momma had her Top Two Tuesday, and even though I'm super late I wanted to included myself in it. Mainly because I've learned that there are far worst things than not having money. We have been thru some difficult situations-including loosing our home and being homeless-but that taught us that our love CAN conquer all.

So here are mine:

1. Money is just that, money.
Money will not make you a nice person, a caring individual, it will not give you love or make you happy. It certainly can help with the loads of worries that come from not having money. But if you don't have the rest money is really nothing more than paper. I have always cared for people and that has paid off times fold. I have so many wonderful things happen to us when we where at our lowest. Our friends are like family and we even had people move us for free when we needed the help-truck, workers and all. I have several friends and family that may be financially stable, yet they are so unhappy, miserable, getting divorce, very low self esteem {why is it than when people have money they always think that people don't really love them?} having really problematic life with themselves and their children. Right now, I still would pick my life. A life in which when we didn't have cable and couldn't watch tv, we made a picnic in the car and listened to the Yankees play baseball while we watched the stars.*smile*
In the end I learned that is really true: All you need is love!

2.Being thrifty is good, really good.
I love my shoes and my makeup and everything girly. I also love to decorate my home and keep it nice. Being that now we only have one income I really have to be good on how we spent our money. Coupons, sales, deals, I LOVE THEM ALL. These days you can find pretty much anything with a coupon these days:; companies like Groupon and Bichbox- the later
will send top brand makeup deluxe samples to my home for $10 a month, so I can try new stuff and not go over budget. I think being thrifty is fantastic and my goal is to find a way to learn even more about the coupon deals (yeah, you can say I watch that TLC show on couponing)

So there you have it. Now off to see what others learned
