Adios Halloween

ACK, is gone already. I didn't get to spent my night watching "Scream 4" because my little guy fell asleep in the car from all the fun...then proceeded to wake up at 10pm and he decided to have a party and only his dearest parents where invited. It was like he took a power nap and was full of energy!

Here we are, doesn't he seems so happy to take a picture?







My little Franky, he even got down the walk with the arms up. He gave me a chocolate and told me proudly " I wuv you mommy, yer cute" (meaning he thinks I'm the diggidybomb).

So here are the Status so far this week:

1.) Mood:
Happy! One: I've been doing my exercises and feeling so much better already, and two: I love holidays and cannot wait to decorate for the Holidays (we do Thanksgiving in NYC so no Turkey decor for us)

2.) When was the last time you carved a pumpkin?
Last year, with my oldest. I think it was an owl, or a cat...or owlcat...who knows.

3.) What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Gosh, all of them...except things with mint in it. And BTW, we use Candy Corn as a Christmas candy back in the homeland. I know, weird, huh?

4.) What is your favorite Halloween memory?
Going to the NJ Devil Haunted Hayride, spending time in Los Poconos, PA at a party with the family then hitting a haunted house, where one of the Hubs cousin almost broke my hand from being so scared.

5.) Do you believe in ghosts/spirits?
uhm, yes. And I respect them too.

6.) Were you allowed to dress up at school for Halloween as a kid?
No, we dressed up for Carnival back home, ours is in February...here is proof of the cruelty of my mother. My Sister all so pretty and me...as a clown....thanks ma'.




7.) Did you trick-or-treat as a kid? At what age did you stop?
Nope, we mostly don't celebrate Halloween back home so I started here as an adult by having parties or me giving the candy.

8.) What is your favorite Halloween movie?
All Halloween (as in Michael Myers Halloween movies), Hocus Pocus, and technically a Christmas one "The Nightmare before Christmas"

9.) Did you dress up for Halloween this year? If so, as what?
Nope, I wanted too though but the mall didn't want adults dressed up -because of the weather we didn't go house to house, plus we missed the Family party due to getting hit with a snow storm.

10.) Weekly goals:
Keep up my exercises, take the Halloween down and fix what ever the kiddo destroyed,
make a traditional dish over the weekend.

Friend Making Monday and I'm freeeeeeee

I have to say that I may be the only person who was looking forward to this Monday, while I love my Parents to no end 6+ weeks with them in our home was just.too.much.

I was ready to have my life and home back, not doing 11,000 appointments, and yes I'm going to say NO MORE SHOPPING with the Mom-ster...the lady can wear Paris Hilton out....Oh, that gives me an Idea *wink*

Did I mentioned that we had to get up at 2:30am to drive 4 hrs because my Mom-ster refused to take a layover flight, so we had to drive to NJ so she could have a direct flight? did I mention 4hrs drive with her in the car? Did I?

FMM: What’s your favorite holiday? And why?

My Favorite Holiday is Halloween and everything that comes with the Fall. I love the dressing up and getting in the spirit of Halloween, researching stories about it or just watching documentaries, the collecting of candy, the movies, the tales, going to haunted houses, haunted hayrides, etc. The Haunted Mansion was also My favorite ride at Disney :)

I'm a fall gal, I was born in the fall and coming to live in America this was a tradition we never had growing up back home. I love watching silly movies like "Hocus Pocus", "Haunted Mansion", "Halloween", "Ghost Ship", "Harry Potter"-Why not?, etc, but even the Gory ones I love :)

I'm one of those already planning for apple & Pumpkin picking, seeing what haunted attractions are in our area, getting in to costumes, decorating like Halloween puked all over our place, collecting the Haunted Village and seeing what new items are brought each year. The fall drinks {salted caramel chocolate? yes, thank you} the baking, the candles, I love it all!

Strolling to the aisle of Michael's this time of year brings joy to my heart. My Family no longer gets together for fall/Thanksgiving so we pretty much dedicate ourselves to do Halloween in our place or with the Hubs Family. We either have a Scary Movie Marathon with some friends,we go trick or treating with the kiddos, etc...of course the Hubs family had planned a few Parties in The Pocono's, PA that we loved, we all got dressed up, when to Haunted Mansion's together, then sat by the fire and told scary stories, I hope they do it again this year. Over all we go a lot more to NYC in the fall, and believe me, even though NYC @ Christmas is beautiful, there is nothing like it in the fall.

The Discrepancy of life and changes

I think this may be a long post-again.
You know what is wrong with America? I'll tell you. We worship money. We put ourselves, our families and our religions last. We don't give family the value it should have. And you know what happens after? After you work for almost 4 years, transfer to a new location, get a new schedule, neglect family time, go to work even when you are sick because you want to be responsible, do what they ask of you and then more. And you know what happens at the end?
They let you go AND to put the cherry on the top have the cojones (excuse my french) to not want to pay your unemployment.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Now that I got that out of the way I feel much better. But don't you fear, Aquaman is near! I am a fighter and that's exactly what I'll do. Fair is fair.

Anyway, our plans for Halloween drastically change. We where supposed to hang with the hubs family for a reunion-Halloween bash-birthday party. Due to our current situation we opted for staying home. We had fun. We took the little Monster trick or treating, I watched the first two "Omen" movies with the big kiddo.


I've been also cooking a lot. I made Lasagna, a Taco Dip and a Chicken ring. Yumm, Yumm, and Yumm. I feel like Betty Crocker...and tomorrow is Quesadillas! :) who would have thought of me being so keen with the kitchen. I am more relax now days, feeling that maybe...just maybe my place may be right here, at home.


Another new thing going on I decided to have a little bit of a look change. This is me in the before...


Reeeeeally long-Pocahontas-like hair (bad lighting, I know)

Not terrible, but basically long and straight. It has been like that for a few years. About 3 years ago I cut it all up to donated it and then just grew it again. I didn't enjoy the short look since my hair needs help getting volume. This time I opted to cut 2 inches and have side bangs. This is the After:

And the best part? it cost me about $20 plus tip :) and that's including the price of my new red hair dye. Ahhhh. I love mini makeovers. Now I try everyday to do some makeup looks so I can still feel human and feminine. Gotta love getting all done up to play in the playground.

Halloween Decor! (about time!)

First I have to say that sometimes I get sad remembering the Decor from the House in NJ...oh the luminaries, the smog machine, strobe lights, etc, etc, etc...Now Halloween is a little different but equally important to me since it's my favorite Holiday.Coming from a Caribbean place, you truly enjoy the change of Season...for me (if you haven't guessed) Fall is my favorite. I love the whole, pumpkin-apple picking, crisp air, apple pies, Hayrides, hunted houses, scary movies, costumes, Halloween, Thanksgiving deal. It's just so...well..perfect! No pressure about presents, only the joy of getting together with family. (that and the fact we didn't celebrate this back home *WINK*) OK, so without further a due, here is the Halloween Decor for 2009:

Balcony...I didn't take a pic of the glass door or the railing (black & purple garland and glow in the dark ghosts)...so just imagine that is decorate, ok?

Another shoot at the bones, these where purchased at Michael's and glittered with Martha's kit. The bowl/glass thinga majingy is a terrarium...all items purchased on sale! (The Terrarium was $6)

Bottles:Labels already made, they where purchased at Dollar Tree, 8 in a package. I have another set to use with the real drinks on our Scary Movie Night.
If you notice the books in the back are a collection of Anne Rice Vampires, Stephen King, Jack the Ripper, more Vampires, witches, etc...we are weird like that. Also the picture above is a black and white Erie signed copy of Anne Rice's old New Orleans home where the book "The Witching Hour " took place. ( I will post about my New Orleans obsession soon)

TV cabinet: Dollar store frame, reads boo (I saw this @ Thrifty Decor Chick but I believe she got the Idea from someone else...White pumpkin with stickers..this is ALL over blog land!)

OK, so I was cooking so ignore the mess but here's the stove. We also have towels and more decor (including on the fridge) but I think this is good for now...you get the idea, don't ya?

FALL INSANITY

Ok so I am insane, I know this. Actually I think I’m probably certifiable!
I am starting my fall-Halloween Decoration this week!!! (go ahead, say it with me: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy)

I know is only September but one month is just.not.enough.for.me!!!

Hubs thinks I'm crazy but he is going with it. I'm starting my cleaning

tomorrow and decorating on Thursday since is my day off. :)
