Friend Makin' Monday- Makeup!

Is another beautiful Monday over here, it kind of feels like fall, even tomorrow they said it will be up to 60 degrees! Now this is my kind of winter (even though I have to admit it scares me a little bit, nature is so freaky) So on to the goodies.

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add

your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

FMM: Makeup Favorites

I LOVE THIS !

  1. Do you wear makeup everyday? I used to but now is only when I have to stop somewhere instead of dropping people off. I made a promise that I would put more effort into my appearance since I notice I was letting myself go with just wearing sweats all the time.
  2. Does your routine change if you’re going out with friends/on a date/to a party? If so, how? Yes, I put more stuff, such as foundation, full on lips, eyes, etc. During the day I wear a tinted moisturizer.
  3. Are you loyal to one brand, or do you use different brands for different things? Nope, I'm a makeup whore and I like trying different things to see what works best.
  4. Do you wear primer/concealer? If so, what’s your favorite kind? Yes to both. Right now I'm loving Benefit POREfessional and DHC primer. My concealer is by MAC.
  5. What’s your favorite brand of foundation? None so far. What I have tried is ok but I can get whatever and be ok with it. I do want to try CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE though
  6. Do you use blush and/or bronzer? If so, what’s your favorite kind? Yes again. I have a Tarte palette that I love that have both. I also love NARS cactus flower and Benefit Dandelion for blush.
  7. Do you wear eye shadow/eye liner? If so, what’s your favorite kind? I love Urban Decay and MAC shadows-specially the paint pots.Eyeliners: Urban Decay 24/7 and Tarte.
  8. What’s your favorite kind of mascara? Here I'm cheap I don't believe more expensive brands would do any difference. I love the pink/green one by Maybelline and Revlon Growluscious.
    Lipstick? Lip gloss? Both? Favorite?
Again yes! Love MAC, ELF (hellu? for $1), and anything in between, I'm not picky.
  9. Do you wear nail polish regularly? If so, share a few of your favorite brands/colors. Yes. I have a post about my nail polish collection. I used to have my nails done but now I do them at home (and getting really good at it- Thanks Youtube). Favorites include Julep, Zoya, OPI.
    1. How do you remove your makeup at the end of the day? I use MAC wipes (because is the only one I have left) but I love the BJ's brand of wipes. Then wash my face with Kiehls face wash.
    2. Do you feel prettier when you’re wearing makeup? Prettier, um? I would say more polished. I do like when I do my eyes since they seem to be brighter.
    3. Do you have any beauty tips that you could pass along? Yes, don't go to bed with your makeup, always, ALWAYS wear sunblock, a little white in the inner conner of your eyes does wonders. At least once, try false lashes. And a smile is the best makeup a girl could ever wear.

Now it’s your turn to answer the questions! Don’t forget to say hi to other bloggers! And also be sure to come back and leave a link to your FMM post in the comments! Happy Monday friends!

    Updates...then makeup and nails

So far is Wednesday night and the Hubs and the little guy are finally feeling better. The Hubs opted to drink my concoction of honey and cebollin (a type of onion) but there was no way to getting the little guy to do it.

Now our oldest is sick and I have gone on two trips getting medication, Halls, Teraflu and things of the sorts.

I've feeling a little achy and my throat has been bothering me, but being the mommy I had not a chance to actually "feel" sick. Did I mentioned that our battery died and we could not find ONE place with the battery in stock? We ended up buying jumper cables until the weekend when we could go to other cities...crazy.

Anyways, I was laughing seeing all the reactions to my little makeup pictures. I was cleaning my drawers one day months ago and decided to take a picture. It is really not that bad. If you don't believe me go to youtube, search for makeup collection (or this one: the biggest makeup collection) and you will see I don't have that much.

This was not bought on one day, it has taken me a while, some has been gifted by friends

the Hubs- this was from Christmas a year ago..

    (Tarte Jewlery Box Palette)

and even a male coworker that lost a bet about the sex of my baby when I was pregnant, ended up getting me my set of Brushes from Arbone. (Mine is light sage green)

I made sure I follow sales and coupons and even ebay...

Then of course two of the Hubs cousins work a counters (Kiehls and Sephora) and I get TONS of samples :) don't hate.

However, I have not been buying anything lately. I think I have enough for now, plus I am trying to get in my head the difference between a NEEDS and a WANTS. See, I'm getting it.
So I've decided to do another post in regards to my Nail Polish collection...yes, I have a collection...and I'll tell you some tricks on how to score free nail polishes :) Ok? cool.

Until then, I still have to play Dinosaurs with my little guy, bathe him, get him to bed and THEN go pick up the Hubs at the train.

    Dear Lauren Graham, FORGIVE ME!

How on Earth did I forget to name Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls- Parenthood) as my favorite actress on my last post?

seriously I should have my Gilmore Girl membership card taken away, be excommunicated. I mean not only I have way too much in common with her Lorelai character but seriously, this is my favorite show of all time (sorry Buffy).

I can only hope she is too busy to read this post and ignore a moment of dumbness I had. I blame the Mom-ster! bwahahahaha.

Today has been a perfect day for me, it is cooler and rainy and gray and I cannot way to go out and get the hubs so I can wear my rain boots (if you pay over $100+ on rain boots you would want to wear them all the time like me...or maybe even fill the tub with water to see if they are truly water proof...not that I've tried it or anything, what?!).

My little guy slept until 9:30am and even then he did not want to get up from the bed, so me being the good mommy I am, I brought him his favorite toast and cheche (milk) to bed until finally at 11am he decided he had enough. All of us in the house are cuddling in bed, even my parents. THANK GAWD the Mom-ster did not want to go shopping again, we went all 4 days of this long weekend and I had enough!

So I took a moment since the kiddo is napping again (yay!) and took some pics of a mini haul of sorts I got. Here is the loot-forgive the back pics I was trying not to wake the little guy.

I got two MAC items: the wipes, which I will never buy again {they work like magic but I didn't realize how pricey these are} and Bare Study paint pot. I find these paint pots are awesome as a base or even alone if you want to have a more natural look.

Then some Urban Decay (who by the way came out with another book of shadows that I love) they are seriously have become my favorite brand.

I got 6 loose pigments: Shattered, X, Graffiti)which is my favorite shadow ever), smog, asphyxia, gunmetal, (they are on sale for $1 peeps) 2 shadows: narcotic and Chronic ($3) and a gloss Pocket Rocket in Jesse ($5) cause that's how I roll. The loose pigments do have some fall out but they are really pigmented and I love them. The sides are the 2 shadows, to the left is the lipgloss with by the way has that rocker guy that changes with or without a shirt *wink*

While @Rite aid I got this wet & wild lipstick for $0.69 so it had to come home with me (color 516C)
and this lovely light moss green nail polish (cause lord knows I need even more) for $1

Please ignore my nails as I was scrubbing our bath today...ahhhh the smell of a clean bathroom! Don't you love when right after you clean it someone says they have to go? No?

Ok peeps, I'm gonna go lay down with the kiddo, enjoy cuddling with him before dinner time, smelling my clean warm white down comforter, because these lazy days happen very seldom and children grow very, very fast!

    Birchbox box #1

I had mentioned before that I was trying Birchbox after hearing such great reviews from bloggers and youtube Gurus. The $10 a month, which includes the shipping, is something more doable for me. This is a first impression on my very first box.

I love their pretty pink box and the way the items are packaged

This is what came on my box, I noticed that sometimes they ran out of items and some people may received different items...

    Cargo Lash Activator Mascara

    Marvis Classic Mint Toothpaste

AHAVA Revival Bath Salt in Mandarin-Cedarwood

AHAVA Dermud Enriched Intensive Foot Cream

    Pangea Organics Lip Balm

At first I was not impressed since I only got one makeup related item, the mascara, which by the way cost $35 and never would I've paid that much. I was glad to try it. Then I saw that the lip balm alone cost $12, I got a full size which means it cover the cost of the $10 and then some. As I researched these seem like all the items are great quality and a bit pricey, items that otherwise I would have never tried like a tooth paste from Italy {I swear by my Crest 3D white}.

Some of the previous items include NARS, Bennefit, Kiehls, Laura Mercier, Bare Minerals, etc.You also collect points for every box you get and additional items that you purchase full size.

So far I've tried the balm and the mascara, both which impressed me a great deal. I'm leaving the tooth paste for a guest that's coming this weekend. I think creating a little gift basket out of these kind of items would be so adorable and decadent.

Would I order again? yes. Definitely. I think the items are great, the samples are BIG and even if I don't try something I can give it in a cute makeup bag for one of my Sister's or niece. I think you should try it too.

Can't wait to get my next box!

    August Favorites

Geez, I'll be surprise if anyone is still paying attention after my last few post.
What a drab. Debbie Downer. UGH.

Seriously, when did I turn into my mom-ster and just complain, complain and complain?

Ok, so maybe I had another BIG (enormous, Mega) complain about my BIL staying with us, but don't you worry...I torture my oldest to a game of "Mommy-is-turning-psycho-and-you-have-to-listen-to-me-complain-game. At the end I felt much better. He, on the other hand, may or may not have been in a corner in a fetal position saying "make her stop, make her stop"

    ;)

But today is a great day, is a day in which I will show you my latest obsessions (like I need anymore). Just because I'm a mommy doesn't mean that I don't appreciated good makeup and looking stylish. Yeah, I say this while my 4 inch heels are driving me nuts, but I look hot in them damm it, so I MUST wear them.

First of all this little beauty is a savior, I've tried DHC Velvet Skin primer (received in a catalog as a sample)

and its magnificent but I'm not ready to pay shipping for beauty products. So I tried this one: L'Oreal Studio Magic Perfecting base ($10 @ Target, but someone says is $12.99). I love it. I use it after my Moisturizer and it makes my make up go on smooth, stay longer and have a nice finish. I guess you could also use this as an eye primer but I use UD Primer potion.

Then another product that I bought MONTHS ago (with a coupon, at Walmart) was the Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Ageless Complete Anti-Aging System (I got tired just typing that!)

It comes with a face wash, an eye cream, Daily Moisturizer w/SPF and a night cream. The only thing I ran out of is the Daily Moisturizer. These don't have a heavy scent and have actually improve the condition of my skin. I believe the entire kit was $30 but go to their website and they usually have a coupon.

Another great moisturizer is the Clinique Moisture Surge. I LOVE THIS STUFF, I WANT TO MARRY IT. I got it when the Class Action Cosmetic Cases Settlement of 2008– Consumers Got One Free Product. Or if you are sneaky like me you got maybe 3...I figure after a decade buying Clinique's products full price I deserved it. I no longer buy Clinique due to cost but if you can, this stuff will make your face feel amazing. I personally only used it at night since it does not have SPF.

I also bought back in the spring this eye shadow Palette from NYX Runway collection, there are a few different colors (I saw several people comparing it to the Kan Von D from Sephora, but I can't say) It works really well and it has really good color payoff. I believe is $10 in Ulta but I got it on sale.

Now what I'm looking forward to!!!
    Yayyyyyyy giddy squeal!
OPI Swiss Collection...I love this, can wait to take a trip to Ulta to see these and maybe, just maybe get a new color.

And finally this amazing palette from Urban Decay called "Naked Palette" available in October.
If you have a chance go to youtube and see some wonderful tutorials with this palette.(I will suggest XSparkage or MakeUpGeek)
    Happy window shopping!!!
