Friend Making Monday and an award!

I know, I know, I've been bad with blogging, but to my defense I have a 2 yr old that requires a lot of me...that and remember that Josephine died (old pc) but she got replaced by a beautiful new girl...more on that later!

It's Monday again which means it's time for FMM! This week, the topic is going to be fun and a bit challenging so grab a drink and get ready to share the details of your life. By the end, we should know so much about each other that we can be betsties for life. ;)

If you've taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you're new,
please take a moment to answer this week's question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers.

FMM: ABC's of Me

Here's how it works...you'll choose topics about yourself, your likes, dislikes, etc. according to each letter in the alphabet. I also got awarded with this awesome award (really? me? little old me? SOOOO THRILLED, my first award!) so I'm going to use this also to respond to this award by Jodi @and in my corner- you are a doll for thinking of me.

A) Both of my boys have names that start with A.; not because I had some thing for having all kids with the same letter but because I like different names (not like Apple or Audio science though) that are very unique back home.

B) In my bucket list is included to learn sign language and to ride horses.

C) I love cleaning, I do. I like a clean, organize house and it drives me nuts when is not.

D) Having a Daughter terrifies me; seriously. Have you seen my Super Sweet 16? Oh and I desperately want a dog.

E) I know that in the near future I will look forward to exercising, just not today.

F) I have very few true friends, there is TONS of people I'm friendly with but not so many that I trust or will call in a time of need.

G) I suffer from Gastritis. There, I said it. And no it does not mean that I fart all the time :)

H) Home is such a big word to me. I've learned in the last 2 yrs that Home truly is where the heart is and your love ones are. (honestly I was going to say something with Hate, hehehe)

I) I was born and raised in an Island. I love it and miss it but don't think I will ever come back to live there.

J) I find Joy in makeup and shoes, yeah, I'm THAT girl.

K) My youngest sister and the only one of my relatives that lives closed is Karina, she was named after the character from a Tolstoy novel Anna Karenina. Also I have a passion for Key Lime pie.

L) I love when I laugh so hard I'm fighting ti get air in.

M) My mom was Mom-ster to me most of the time, but now we get along and I do miss SOME of her things. She still drives me crazy.

N) I have 5 nieces and 6 nephews.

O) I am 35 years old and happy to still get carded.

P) my middle name is Patricia, everyone calls me that since my first name is my mothers name. I also wish I had more patience.

Q) One of my favorite quotes is "There's no better makeup than Happiness"

R) I would love to go on a road trip...on my new Range Rover :)

S) I am one of 5 Sisters. I also wish to learn how to swim...shhhh.

T) This is the letter of my family's name now, my Hubs last name.

U) U is the letter from my maiden name, a name I still use and love because is very unique

V) This is my Hubs initial and a name that is so weird people can't ever pronounce it...so we just call him Vinny.

W) I know that water has to be more important to me in order to be healthier

X) no clue about this letter. Maybe I can say something dirty...hahahaha

Some friends are better left in the past

This post was going to be written at a later time, with a clearer head. Sadly I was on the phone with a "friend" and I got so angry I needed to vent, so here I am: sad and broken hearted.

I am going to start with my first issue, my dear best friend of over 15 years and I may be broking up {if there is such a thing}. We became friends back in college, when we where both 20. We clicked immediately, she was my soul-mate, my best friend, and more like a sister to me. We went thru dating jerks, getting dumped, being single, the dating, the ugly, the finally getting married, and having kids.

When she was having issues with her husband, she even contemplated moving here with me. That's how close we where. But then things changed, her calls and emails where not as often. She would claim not to get my messages (even when her voice was the one on the machine). She always claim she loves me the same, she is just a little busy. Then a few years back it started that when I went back home she didn't have time to see me, and it made me feel awful. She didn't go to my wedding claiming low funds (we had a beach wedding-which was only 1 hr away from her) but then went to a resort about a month later, and yet I let it go.

I can understand than having 4 kids takes a lot, but each time I called her she was out with her new friends, kids where at the daycare or with the sitter...so I didn't understand she had time to go shopping but not to stop by and see me. Last year even when I called and asked her when would she be home so I could come by, she always had something to do...so I got the hint and stopped asking her to meet.

This year I tried to keep the calls (because we did talk more when she had surgery) but then again she didnt make an effort, even her FB messages where short...but again always telling me she love me and missed me. I told her that I didn't feel that since I tried making a effort leaving her messages and she never responded. She just replied with a joke.

After all this I've decided not to invest my feelings on our former friendship anymore. i would go back home and will not tell her I'm there. I will no longer call or email her, or even send her a FB message. I'm tired of feeling hurt and rejected by my former best friend. It hurts so much because she was so meaningful in my life for so long. I know she has new friends around (mostly friends of the Husband) a lot of people that drink and smoke and gamble, which are things she now does with her husband...things I don't do or enjoy. I guess we have grown apart and these things happen, but I never thought it would happen to us...

I wont make a fuss about it, I don't think she sees this is done or maybe she doesn't even care. I will just let this fade slowly and no longer try to perform CPR to a relationship that is already on cardiac arrest.

Then tonight, another old friend asked me to call her- she is also back home. I called her even though it was late because she was so depressed in our last few calls, having issues in her business and with her boyfriend. As it happens my son's Godmother is also back home getting several plastic surgeries done -back, lipo, stomach, breast, arms. I talk to her for a while, asking her how she was doing, etc. Then she put my friend that requested I called her on the phone. She was making fun of the one that had the surgery calling her a cow. I replied that she did not look like a cow, plus she had a baby 8 months ago.

Then she say to me: "You should come here and do Plastic Surgery too, I don't even recognize you. You need to keep it up for your husband, You and Jessie let yourselves go"
First I laugh and replied " are you paying for it" to which she reply I had a husband. I said yes, a husband who is the only one that works, with two kids of which one is going to college.

She continue her belligerence on me by saying that she KNOWS my husband loves me but I need to have this for him.

I wanted to say that yes I was fat but happily married, and she was thin and still haven't found one guy that wants to marry her...I wanted to, but that would make me be like her- mean and shallow, This is not the first time she makes these kind of commentsand she knows I don't appreciated them, and honestly, I felt sorry because I knew how misserable she was in her own life, so I let it go. I really hate confrontations (unbelievable- I know) so my take is just to be away from people like that, move on and be happy and healthy for ME...after all, some "friends" are better left in the past.

A tale of a cupcake, a bra and recalculating

We live on the East coast, and even though I'm mostly familiar with the areas closer to NYC such as NJ, but as we take in all that this area has to offer we seem to be enjoying more and more being here.

Our friend Ada decided to come down from NYC and hang with us for the weekend, which meant going around town and showing her a good time that didn't required hiring a male performer willing to dress as a fireman, not that we where opposed to doing that for our friend, because after all we are nothing if not AMAZING friends; but because it would not be very politically correct to enter that kind of establishment with a toddler and a teenager. Just saying.

Besides showing her the usual: The White House, DC area and the Inner Harbor we {and by we, I mean ME} figures that we could try to go to good old Georgetown and try one of the famous DC Cupcakes from the hit series on TLC. The actual place is Georgetown Cupcakes and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

But first here are some pics of our day around DC...

Above is the back entrance to the White House and below a group of people that decided to tour DC driving SEGWAYS, how cool is that?!

And of course we decided to try to climb the fence. While I'm out it we saw some of the security enter for their shift, I wont discuss here but WAY TO GO WHITE HOUSE, So freaking cool. I though for a moment they where filming "National Treasure".

Walking around the front garden we found a couple taking their wedding pictures, awwww...what we do for love, 'cause let me tell you It.WAS.COLD!

When we finally got to Georgetown, she decided she was going to be a great friend and act like a nutcase and take pictures with immobile objects. Love it.

Ok, so on to the cupcakes, this is what we saw once we approach it:

The line went to the end of the block so we separated; the hubs and the kids hang around the town, bought drinks and walk around a small mall so the baby wouldn't be cold, and Ada and I made the line so we could gossip :)

She was such a trooper, even saying that we had to make a line just 'cause we need to see what the deal was with these cupcakes. Leave it to us to enjoy making a line for an hour and 40 minutes!

Behold the glorious cupcakes:

Above L to R: Red Velvet, chocolate vanilla, Salted caramel, Vanilla & chocolate.

Above: Key lime, coconut, salted caramel, Irish creme
Mil chocolate Bday, chocolate ganache, Mint cookies, Peanut butter
Chocolate3, chocolate bday, chocolate2, vanilla2

Here is Ada with them, we where ready to attack. While getting around town, Geepe {as we call our lovely GPS} decided to go crazy and after every turn she decided to start "RECALCULATING" leaving me at one point having a laughing attack because I knew it was coming and we where going around in circles, took us twice the time to get home but it was so worth it.

After trying the cupcakes they where as amazing as they sound. My favorites are Key lime and Salted caramel. Now mind you, they have specials for each day so I still have more to try. I so totally would do the line again, but you don't have too :) you can order them here and they will ship it to you Georgetown Cupcakes

Since Ada's camera had die I offered to take pics of her around the town, the next day it was the Inner Harbor. I wont include every pic since this is already too many but you get the idea...

Her and I where laughing so hard when we started to talk about breast and I told her that mine where an optical allusion: the belly was pushing them up so they always "looked" like they where so lifted and perky. Aww the joys of girl talk. BTW for those who doubt about men and women being friends, she is an old friends of the hubs from even before we got together and now is a good friend of both of us :) we certainly enjoyed having her visit and we hope to go see her and the rest of the family in NYC soon.

Hope you enjoy my little tour. Wishing you cupcake dreams (let me not remind myself that I probably gained my entire weight back)
