Friend Making Monday and an award!

I know, I know, I've been bad with blogging, but to my defense I have a 2 yr old that requires a lot of me...that and remember that Josephine died (old pc) but she got replaced by a beautiful new girl...more on that later!

It's Monday again which means it's time for FMM! This week, the topic is going to be fun and a bit challenging so grab a drink and get ready to share the details of your life. By the end, we should know so much about each other that we can be betsties for life. ;)

If you've taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you're new,
please take a moment to answer this week's question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers.

FMM: ABC's of Me

Here's how it works...you'll choose topics about yourself, your likes, dislikes, etc. according to each letter in the alphabet. I also got awarded with this awesome award (really? me? little old me? SOOOO THRILLED, my first award!) so I'm going to use this also to respond to this award by Jodi @and in my corner- you are a doll for thinking of me.

A) Both of my boys have names that start with A.; not because I had some thing for having all kids with the same letter but because I like different names (not like Apple or Audio science though) that are very unique back home.

B) In my bucket list is included to learn sign language and to ride horses.

C) I love cleaning, I do. I like a clean, organize house and it drives me nuts when is not.

D) Having a Daughter terrifies me; seriously. Have you seen my Super Sweet 16? Oh and I desperately want a dog.

E) I know that in the near future I will look forward to exercising, just not today.

F) I have very few true friends, there is TONS of people I'm friendly with but not so many that I trust or will call in a time of need.

G) I suffer from Gastritis. There, I said it. And no it does not mean that I fart all the time :)

H) Home is such a big word to me. I've learned in the last 2 yrs that Home truly is where the heart is and your love ones are. (honestly I was going to say something with Hate, hehehe)

I) I was born and raised in an Island. I love it and miss it but don't think I will ever come back to live there.

J) I find Joy in makeup and shoes, yeah, I'm THAT girl.

K) My youngest sister and the only one of my relatives that lives closed is Karina, she was named after the character from a Tolstoy novel Anna Karenina. Also I have a passion for Key Lime pie.

L) I love when I laugh so hard I'm fighting ti get air in.

M) My mom was Mom-ster to me most of the time, but now we get along and I do miss SOME of her things. She still drives me crazy.

N) I have 5 nieces and 6 nephews.

O) I am 35 years old and happy to still get carded.

P) my middle name is Patricia, everyone calls me that since my first name is my mothers name. I also wish I had more patience.

Q) One of my favorite quotes is "There's no better makeup than Happiness"

R) I would love to go on a road trip...on my new Range Rover :)

S) I am one of 5 Sisters. I also wish to learn how to swim...shhhh.

T) This is the letter of my family's name now, my Hubs last name.

U) U is the letter from my maiden name, a name I still use and love because is very unique

V) This is my Hubs initial and a name that is so weird people can't ever pronounce it...so we just call him Vinny.

W) I know that water has to be more important to me in order to be healthier

X) no clue about this letter. Maybe I can say something dirty...hahahaha

Y) I'm loud as is everyone from my homeland, you would think we are yelling but we are actually not.

Z) I wish I could catch more zzz's. I'm a night owl and its very difficult for me to get some sleep

Now it's your turn! Don't forget to come back and link up! Happy Monday, and happy Memorial Day!

I'm always late for the party

I'm weird (SHOCKER!) I'm the type of person that if a TV show is too popular I dont even bother with it, something about everyone talking about the same thing turns me off for some reason. I've never seen DWTS, Greys Anatomy, American Idol, The Bachelor and the kinds, and things of the sorts. Even shows like Two and a half men....nope, not for me.

But I am finding really regrettable to not have been watching two shows that I've gotten into lately: "The Adventures of Old Christine" and "How I met your mother" HOLY GUACAMOLE Batman, how did I miss years of pure perfection!?

Christine is sooooooo bad and self center I can't wait to see what other jackass thing she comes up with, all the while sharing an amazing cast (Wanda Stykes ROCKS). If you are not watching you need too. It makes me laugh every single time.

How I met your mother is just a new friends but (dare I say it) even better.

I love weird, inappropriate, sarcastic humor and both shows have so much. They are witty and funny and I can't have enough of them. I love that my 18yr old loves watching HIMYM with me too. Last time I gotten so much in to a TV show was with my adorable Gilmore Girls (which I own every single season).

Hellu? 16 yr old gets pregnant and has this amazingly weird relation with her kid (sounds familiar?) LOve and MisS this ShOw so very much. I tried getting into "Parenthood" to see Lauren but I always forget to watch.

And because sometimes is good not to have to think and just watch mindless TV I'm watching again "Real Housewives if NJ" and "Jerseylicious". I know, embarrassing and addictive.

Ok, off I go to make dinner... ANDDDDDD by the way the woman that did my nails did a mess so badly that I actually came home and took the polish off (big blobs of paint, like a 5 yr old did them) so I'm going back AGAIN tomorrow and will request the new owner to do them. UGH, where is the customer service gone?

Ins and Outs

This week has been, as always, challenging. Seriously you would think I have so much going on but in reality little things drive me bonkers. Dear old Josephine aka old PC finally passed away leaving us all using Alain's Laptop (and I despised them) but beggers can be choosers. We will be purchasing a new one...eventually. Sooner rather than later but I am a stubborn pigheaded woman and told the hubs that if we are going to invest in one is going to be one I absolutely love.

Dear Josephine lasted 10 yrs people! so I'm hoping to make a good investment so this next one will last as well. I'm not a whore for new devices so I do not plan to change it
every year. I say I because is mainly for my personal use. So here are this week's In's and Out's:

IN
  • new nail polishes. I've gotten three in the last few weeks and very happy with them.

Essie- Tart Deco, Hard Candy- Beetle, which is a dupe for one of the MAC Venomous Villains, Sally Hansen-Mint Sorbet, which I already tried on my toes and loved.

  • getting my nails done. My salon changed owners and got remodel which made it even nicer.
  • going out to eat Mexican, even the little guy enjoy a tasty quesadilla (which I can make at home but I needed to have a break from cooking)
  • Getting a Triceratops for my little guy that made him so Ubber HAPPY! Dinosaurs are really important to him :)

  • buying and making amazing NY Strip steaks
  • Getting crabcakes (wanna ask how my diet is going?)
  • getting a compliment on my blouse by a hip girl while @ the college. I felt so young!
  • Finally getting so in to the book I'm reading ("Mina")
  • getting motivate to dress up more which means wearing my lovely heels

OUT
  • Obviously Dear Josephine passing
  • The insanely ridiculous amount of paperwork we are still doing for college. seriously, how many copies of my taxes do these people need?
  • The bathroom tub getting clogged as I tried to take a midnight shower...UGH!
  • trying to find a decent bodywash that doesn't smell like a field of flowers. Not all women want to smell flowery. I spent about an hour at WM trying to get something that didn't make me want to gag. Not to be a snob but I was using Philosophy's Silent Night and The Body Shop coconut and now I don't like anything out there. Finally decided on J&J baby bath.
  • having my manicure damage by the time I got home. I don't get it. I have gel on and it looks like it shrinked, so off I go tomorrow to get them fix.
So that's it for now, I'm looking forward to a smooth weekend, lots of cleaning and of course redoing my mani. Hope you enjoy yours...or the last day since the world is supposed to end.

The good life backwards

You know how you never know what you have until is gone? How the old times where the good times? How blah, blah, blah, blabiddity, these young kids have it easy, blah, blah, blah, when I was young we, blah, blah, blah, and then we blah, blah. Remember that?

Ok so I was driving and rocking to Black Eye Peas "Dirty Bit" and looking like a dude from "Night at the Roxberry" (what? I rock!)

Anyways, for some odd reason of nature and because my mind works in mysterious ways I was reminiscing of old times back in the homeland. Seems to me that those by gone days are what most of us are looking for these days. If only I would have known! Lets review a few fun facts.

1. We had a maid- actually my Mom, siblings, Aunts, etc, back home still do. Don't think we didn't do any chores, we have to help out and clean our rooms, help with additional duties. I never realize that coming here it was so seldom you would find that on medium class families.

2. ok, don't hate. we also had a laundress. She used to come in and do all the Laundry, boiling in huge pails all the whites and the sheets. (FYI- We where not filthy rich, we did not live out in the country, as a matter of fact we lived right smack downtown). She was with us for ages, even after getting machines my Mom didn't have the heart to let her go, plus the woman wanted to fell useful. I cans till smell that fresh laundry scent...washed with an organic soap...which I didn't realize until I came here and saw that our natural soaps where indeed organic.

3. This one almost killed me. I used clothe diapers with my oldest. Dear GAWD that was a pain in the a$$, seriously. I had to hand wash them because my mom did not want me to put them in the machine. a few times a day I had to go to take the poop and pee out of them so it wouldn't stain. And when you carried him and the pee actually leaked all over you, or the sheets, or the floors...ugh...nightmares. Healthy but UFF, so not doing it again.

4. I also made 90% of the food he ate. I made soups, and chicken, and peas...blend it, froze it, unfroze it. That part I liked. I didn't make as much meals with Aiden, but I still try to give him more of my meals than anything else. Oh, and I boiled and wash his bottles every night, no microwave sterilizer.

5. We grow up on homemade natural juices. If we wanted Juice we took the fruit, squeeze the lemons, the oranges, blended the guava, the pineapples, etc. and had juice. We even had real fresh coconut water from the actual coconut not a can. My mom still does juice this way. I was considering doing the same but do you know how much a Juicer cost!?

6. My father had our house built from scratch, with his own money, no loans. Also all six of us went to private schools and private Colleges. It amazes me how many people are trying to paid Credit cards and be debt free and my Dad was; he never had a credit card until he retired at 75 and only because they wanted to accumulate points ( how they did it, I still have no freaking clue).

7. Even though we where a large family we had vacations at resorts, on the beach. We also members of this country club.

8. We also used seamstress and have most of our going out outfits, party attires costume made. Anything you could find a picture of, we would go buy the fabric and had them made for us, It was a luxury I would love to have now because, surprisingly it was cheaper than go to a boutique. After falling in love with a $190 dress a Talbots I learned my lesson (no, I didn't buy it).

I was thinking how I was blessed with a beautiful and comfortable life growing up. This post was not to brag, my father worked really hard and he did not retired until after he was well over 70. They budgeted well and knew when to splurge. I was just thinking that all the things I want to do or achieve they did it and with more kids. Even though the Mom-ster drove me insane she does gets props for being a great home maker.

This was mainly me, with rambling thoughts that how come, yet again technology is not always better, more efficient yes, but not always better. How now we try to go backwards and do all those old fashion things: organic food, healthier choices, get out of debt; while still providing a better life for our kids/families. I think before, we got the good life backwards.

Friend Making Monday's 5-16-11

It feels so good to be able to connect again. First I got affected with a stomach virus (thanks SIL) right after NYC, then followed by blogger being down, this is finally working!

It's Monday, and time for Friend Makin' Mondays. And this week, I want to talk about what we love about ourselves. We all have our own set of strengths and weaknesses that make us unique, and I think it's time for us to celebrate those things.

If you've taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you're new, please take a moment to answer this week's question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers.

Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it's time for this week's topic!

What makes you awesome? List at least five qualities/hobbies/habits make you cool and unique?

I love this question so much, most of the time I'm great at telling people how wonderful they are but it takes more effort when it comes to my personal view of myself. Don't get me wrong- I think I'm terrific- but I want to list things that I think other people will see on me, or better yet, how I want to be remembered.

1) I'm super dupper helpful to others, to the point of being at fault. If I can help someone I will, I cannot say no or ignore other peoples needs. I like to help people (maybe that's why I always dreamed to being a Doctor when I was young). If is in my power -and sometimes even if is not- I will try hard to help others.

2) I strive to be a good person, Mother, wife, Sister, friend, etc. I don't assume I just am, so I always strive to be better. Even though , or maybe because of, the rocky relationship with my own mother I always try to do better.

3) I'm a girly girl: I love to get dress up, go shopping, put makeup on, get my nails done, wear perfume. Sometimes is hard because I'm a SAHM now and we tend to get comfortable but I do try to look pretty. Yesterday I was going to Kohls and got a dress on, full makeup, high sandals...the hubs did a double take and even decided to go with me. Is nice to know I can still make him look at me and tell me that I look beautiful.

4) I'm a smart woman. I like to read, I like to keep informed, I like to know things (like how the Lincoln Tunnel was built- and yes I know the answer). I want to have an informative decision about most things, although I hate discussing politics or religion. Is funny when people state they are open minded until you disagree with them *wink*.

5) I don't like to intentionally hurt people or have confrontations. Even when I'm right I rather be at peace and not tell people off. I don't like to argue. I used to be very "I tell you the truth" in my younger years but I learned that while the truth may seem good, if I'm going to hurt someone I rather keep my mouth shut.

Now it's your turn, join Kenz and tel us about yourself!

Friend Making Monday-the sick Edition

I'm so late posting this today (is already 8pm) We where in NYC visiting the family and celebrating Aiden's second Birthday the Hubs side of the family. We got home last night and I got so sick. I believe I caught a stomach virus, spend the night hugging the toilet and having poor hubs hold my hair and head. He is a darling that man of mine. He stayed home today to take care of the kiddo so I could rest.

So, as always here is Friend Making Mondays!!!

FMM: If you could meet someone famous today, who would it be? And why?
This is rather difficult question for me. There is so many people I admire out there, and lets face it: it would be awesome to meet my number one crush Keanu Reeves.

I would love to meet some of my favorite writers, I met Anne Rice only for a brief moment at a book signing, but it would be awesome to be able to have a conversation with her.

Also would be great to meet Sting...his music has been with me since I was 10 yrs old. I would love to meet people that have endure difficult times so I could learn from them- like Nienie.

I would love to meet Kandee Johnson, the makeup artist, because she has such a great disposition about life, regardless of what people think of her.

I think I got it!
I would have a dinner party and invite:
Kandee Johnson
Keanu reeves
Anne Rice
Sting
Joan Rivers {don't judge-anyone that can make fun of themselves and be friends with royalty is intriguing to me}

So who's on your list?

We interrupt this program...

Today, two years ago it started a new journey for me. One that I didn't know I will want and cherish so much. It's been two years of no sleep, constant worry, lots of things changed. But it has also been filled with amazement, happiness, joy, sheer delight, and pride.

I remember meeting you and crying, seeing you for the first time was overwhelming. You see, for the longest time I didn't know if the life I have now would happen to me; then I was blessed TWICE. How lucky can a girl get?!

Today my Aiden turns Two!

And even though he is a little more independent, and he has developed some of his charming personality, in my eyes you are still my little newborn nugget. I love you beyond words, you have made all of us so much happier because you are here.

Last night you rushed into the kitchen while I was cooking, hugged my legs from behind with so much force and enthusiasm and said "
my momma"...you melted my heart.

Happy Birthday dear Boy, I will forever be your Momma =)

Friend Making Monday 5-02-11

Another beautiful Monday, I'm thinking of going on a hunt for nail polish! but in the meantime I'm joining once again Kenz @ All the weigh on this installment:

Friend Makin' Mondays: Are You A Bookworm?

1) How often do you read? Always, the only time I was not constantly reading was when my youngest was born (with my first son I was actually reading in the delivery room)

2) What's the last book you read and loved? I wish I can say something amazing, but the truth is the last book I read that I was surprised I loved it : "Breaking Dawn" from the Twilight Series...Never in my LIFE would I though I would like it, but I did. Also LOVED the Harry Potter series...AMAZING.

3) What book(s) are you currently reading? only two: "Lyrics" by Sting {a compilation of his songs and the history behind them} and "Mina" by Marie Kiraly, about the after life of Mina from Bram Stokers Dracula

4) Share a few of your favorite authors. well, I would read pretty much anything but lately I'm loving James Patterson, J.K. Rowling, Lisa Jackson, Carlos Ruiz Zafón and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I was obsessed with all time favorite Anne Rice, but sadly I cannot get into her new stuff.

5) What's next on your list of must-reads? Ricky Martin "Me", James Patterson "Toys" and "Crossfire", I'm also interested in Eva Longoria's new cookbok.

Now it's your turn to share your answers! Don't forget to link back to All the weigh so we can all see your answers too! Happy Monday and be happy and healthy.
