2 on Tuesday- food

I'm typing this ahead and laughing so hard. My little guy has learned the words of "Party Rock" so he is watching Kung fu Panda and singing everybody blah blah tonight, we wanna blah blah SHAKE THAT! and then he shakes. LOL He gets me every time. He makes Monday night fun.

This week the topic on My Chihuahua bites is:

What are your two go-to meals? What do you cook most often in your household?

My go to meal would be: hellou? China Wok? yes I would like an order for delivery...LOL
In all honesty, when I don't feel good I crave Chinese-not sure why. And even though I have master most of my kitchen, there are days that I just have no clue what to make, or have the energy to make it.

OK, going back to the "Real" deal:

First I do tons of Spanish food (white Rice, beans, fry plantains and a meat) which is our typical meal back home. The fry plantains I didn't make for a while because the plantains where hard to come by (good ones) but now they are every where. We can eat them alone with just ketchup and be happy with it. Seriously. These are like the french fries of Spanish people :)

The second I would say is Mexican food...not one specific one. We'll do taco night one week, then enchiladas another. I love learning new recipes and trying them out. Also it seems like the little one really likes these are they are easy to hold (soft tacos) and he loves refried beans.

Below is my chicken enchiladas, yummy.

And I'm going to cheat here and add a third one: my chicken roll just because every darn person that comes over, or that I go visit asks me to make this for them. Chicken, veggies, tons of cheese on a pillsbury dough? YES!

I can't wait to read the rest and see if I can learn a thing or too.
Over and Out.

Friend Makin' Monday- Makeup!

Is another beautiful Monday over here, it kind of feels like fall, even tomorrow they said it will be up to 60 degrees! Now this is my kind of winter (even though I have to admit it scares me a little bit, nature is so freaky) So on to the goodies.

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add

your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

FMM: Makeup Favorites

I LOVE THIS !

  1. Do you wear makeup everyday? I used to but now is only when I have to stop somewhere instead of dropping people off. I made a promise that I would put more effort into my appearance since I notice I was letting myself go with just wearing sweats all the time.
  2. Does your routine change if you’re going out with friends/on a date/to a party? If so, how? Yes, I put more stuff, such as foundation, full on lips, eyes, etc. During the day I wear a tinted moisturizer.
  3. Are you loyal to one brand, or do you use different brands for different things? Nope, I'm a makeup whore and I like trying different things to see what works best.
  4. Do you wear primer/concealer? If so, what’s your favorite kind? Yes to both. Right now I'm loving Benefit POREfessional and DHC primer. My concealer is by MAC.
  5. What’s your favorite brand of foundation? None so far. What I have tried is ok but I can get whatever and be ok with it. I do want to try CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE though
  6. Do you use blush and/or bronzer? If so, what’s your favorite kind? Yes again. I have a Tarte palette that I love that have both. I also love NARS cactus flower and Benefit Dandelion for blush.
  7. Do you wear eye shadow/eye liner? If so, what’s your favorite kind? I love Urban Decay and MAC shadows-specially the paint pots.Eyeliners: Urban Decay 24/7 and Tarte.
  8. What’s your favorite kind of mascara? Here I'm cheap I don't believe more expensive brands would do any difference. I love the pink/green one by Maybelline and Revlon Growluscious.
    Lipstick? Lip gloss? Both? Favorite?
Again yes! Love MAC, ELF (hellu? for $1), and anything in between, I'm not picky.
  9. Do you wear nail polish regularly? If so, share a few of your favorite brands/colors. Yes. I have a post about my nail polish collection. I used to have my nails done but now I do them at home (and getting really good at it- Thanks Youtube). Favorites include Julep, Zoya, OPI.
    1. How do you remove your makeup at the end of the day? I use MAC wipes (because is the only one I have left) but I love the BJ's brand of wipes. Then wash my face with Kiehls face wash.
    2. Do you feel prettier when you’re wearing makeup? Prettier, um? I would say more polished. I do like when I do my eyes since they seem to be brighter.
    3. Do you have any beauty tips that you could pass along? Yes, don't go to bed with your makeup, always, ALWAYS wear sunblock, a little white in the inner conner of your eyes does wonders. At least once, try false lashes. And a smile is the best makeup a girl could ever wear.

Now it’s your turn to answer the questions! Don’t forget to say hi to other bloggers! And also be sure to come back and leave a link to your FMM post in the comments! Happy Monday friends!

    Dear Douchebag

I am so totally copying My Chihuahua bites on this one. Hers is HILARIOUS, and since sadly we all encounter our deal of daily stupidity mind as well get a good laugh about it.

    Dear Douchebag...

    Dear Medical Assistant,

would it have killed you to tell me when I called the office, letting you know GPS could not find the address, and that it was the first time I was going over there, to tell me the office was located ALL THE WAY-NOT-EVEN-CLOSE-TO-THE-STREET back of a plaza??? How about the NAME OF THE PLAZA? or better yet, an apology when I gave you my info. for my 11am appointment, and you let me get there after being lost for half and hour, that your office made an error and moved my appointment to 2pm? How about it?

    Sincerely,

a very pissed patient that had to re-schedule yet again.
    _________________________________________

    Dear Rite-Aid,

It happens every single time at the same location. Please tell Dear-my-nails-are-soo-long-so-I-just-stare-at-them cashier that "uh-hum" is not a proper answer when someone says thank you. Neither is saying "are you ready?" when I'm in line to pay.

    Sincerely,

    a well manner customer
    _________________________________________

    Dear seemingly good intention friend,

I love you, I really do; But telling me that being at home with my kids, making a home is a waste, and that I should work outside so I can see "more people" hurts me. I would love to have another income to help the family, but my work as a SAHM IS VERY VALUABLE- and underpaid.

    Your friend.
    _________________________________________

Dear immature women on FB fighting over a free nail polish,

Really? are you kidding me here? just because you are hiding behind a computer screen does not give you the right to be nasty, ill matter and just plain old bitchy. Geez.
    Play nice girls.

What is the song you play when you want/need to cry?

What is the song you play when you’re cleaning?

Run the show or Whine up- both by Kat de Luna. That's my girl!

What is the song you play when you’re exercising?

The entire Rocky IV soundtrack, there is no way not to want to get up and exercise after hearing it. I MUST BREAK YOU!

The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

    FMM: Short Answers

    1. Mac or PC? Mac baby, we made the change after I convinced the Hubs, now he loves it too.

    3. Beach or mountains? I like both, but we do beach more often since I'm from the Caribbean.
    4. What’s the title of the book you’re currently reading? I'm going back to the old Anne Rice books "Queen of the Dammed", but I have a few on wait list.
    5. Do you dance? Yes, LOTS. Again, being Latin helps a lot. There is not a day (unless sick) that I don't dance around with the kiddo-he loves it.
    6. CNN or Fox News? neither. I keep needs to a minimum, I search for things that interest me, or ask the hubs since he watches tons of it.

    8. Do you get a yearly flu shot? Everyone in our house does except me.
    9. Best movie you’ve seen in 2012? 2012? it's only been 23 days...I watched one from last year "Love and other drugs", waiting for some free tickets the hubs got so we can have a date night.

    Polishes update

    Hey Gals (I think),

I got the last of the polishes I was waiting for (see previous post for full collection)

Zoya Kieko- dark Fuchsia, Kristen-light powder blue (I know, it looks grey). The camera died after taking these so hopefully the next one will take better accurate shots.

Above picture of Kristen is from Imperfectly painted, Kieko-below is from polish Addict (just so you can see more accurate colors)

Then I got the Julep box (which is being bombarded with bad reviews for some bloggers, some sort of credit issue)

This box had two colors: Anne-creme purple and Maria- Shimmering platinum rose. I also got the Pomegranate scrub (I already had the body butter and it's delish) and a Nail Therapy that retails for $16!!! . For some reason they also sent me a free coupon for another polish-the white card that reads upgrade...I have to pay $3 for shipping and tax so that is not bad. I will probably pick some strange color 'm loving right now:

(photo from rainbows & Sparkles) I don;t have anything like this weird greenish, pea soup color, but I like it...what do you think? Should it be the next one??? uhm....

    OK, that's all for now.

    Polishes, polishes, polishes!!!

I finally got feeling better, although I have a lingering cough that attacks me every.single.night. I'm trying my honey and lemon recipe to see if it goes away (yeah, I don't take my onion concoction, I'm not that brave).

As promised here is my humble nail polish collection, I believe as of today I have 58 (there is 2 free ones coming from Zoya and 2 more from Julep, YAY). So here is the recap...
I got this plastic shoe thingies @ Target, but they are the perfect size to store them under the bathroom sink

See? I have them all group together by brand, the empty spaces are due to a purge I did when my Mom was here, I sent them to my nieces...including one of my favs "For Audrey" by China Glaze, a Tiffany blue that I will replace with my next coupon.

As you can see Crest 3D white rocks {totally forgot to move it away}. I use Beauty Secret Ridge filler, Sally Hansen Miracle Thickener, and the best fast top coat ever: Seche Vite.

My Juleps so far: L2R- top coat, Jennifer, no idea since it was xmas special, Stefani, Vanessa, Demi- greates red ever.
Julep has promotions in which you can get their maven boxes (monthly Sub) for $5 including shipping, but If you are interested in signing up to become a Julep Maven, you can do so at The Nail Network. If you use the code NEWYEAR2012, you will get your first box for $0.01! That's right, one penny! If you are interested in purchasing any of these colors separately, they are currently available on Julep's website. (this Polishes retail for $14 ea)

Now to Essies,I'm not Crazy about their formula though...L2R: Dive Bar, Topless and Barefoot, Marshmallow, Tart Deco, Bubbling for baubles, I also included two L'Oreal- a everything base (meh) and Greycian Goddess.

Zoya! Ok, at first I was all pissy about their customer service, but now I love them. Sign up with them and they send you tons of coupons, they also run several annual promos. Last year I got 3 polishes for free, in January they run their FB promo: 2 more for free. So just sign up to score free products. Above L2R: Moxie, Jem, Karina, Laney, Faye, Tamsen, Noel (from Birchbox sub)

L2R:Codie (LOVE!), Pinta-the perfect purple cream, Caitlin-is actually light Lavender, Envy and Cynthia.

Now OPI, most of these where purchased when I was working. First set Swiss Collection and the second is Ulta Couture. These are minis.

Regular size L2R: Ski till we drop, Lincoln Park @ Midnight, Cuckoo for this color, Have you seen my limo, Saphire in the snow, Manicurist of Seville-I love this tomato red color, My Private Jet and Rumples Wigging.

My China Glaze got so small after that cleaned up: Wagon Trail (a fav for sure), Little Drummer boy, Cotton Candy, Naughty and Nice. I got these from 8ty8.com for about $3.

Sinful: Unicorn, Seaweed. Orly Kiss the Bride, and a regular black detail polish (free from Sally's Beauty membership).

Sally Hansen: Gunmetal, Mint Sorbet, Concrete,Grey Area-love how chic this looks, Haute Chocolate-which has been revamp in a new bottle, the rest I got in the sale bin and not sure about the names.

A word of advise: I tend to use coupons for some of the items, I sign up for most Nail polishes companies so I'm aware of their sales, I've also gotten a few in giveaways.

Doing my nails was my favorite to do in the world, it was my 2 hours for myself that I got pampered. Due to cutting cost in my co. (aka home) I have decided to do them at home- a challenge with a 2yr old. I do use some other tools to shape and file my nails, and I swear by Burts bee Cuticle balm which I use every night. I also put Kiehls Intense hand cream every night.

I hope you enjoy this little collection.

    UGH
Guess who is sick now and slowly dying?!
yeap, little old me. I've been in bed for 3 days now. It's currently 1:59am and cannot sleep because I can't breathe when I lay down. I made it to the computer on my way to get some water since all of nurses are asleep right now.
I'll be back with the polish collection when I recover.
On the positive side I've seen so many Hercule Poirot and Masterpiece Mystery while being cater by my men :) gotta take advantage somehow.

    Updates...then makeup and nails

So far is Wednesday night and the Hubs and the little guy are finally feeling better. The Hubs opted to drink my concoction of honey and cebollin (a type of onion) but there was no way to getting the little guy to do it.

Now our oldest is sick and I have gone on two trips getting medication, Halls, Teraflu and things of the sorts.

I've feeling a little achy and my throat has been bothering me, but being the mommy I had not a chance to actually "feel" sick. Did I mentioned that our battery died and we could not find ONE place with the battery in stock? We ended up buying jumper cables until the weekend when we could go to other cities...crazy.

Anyways, I was laughing seeing all the reactions to my little makeup pictures. I was cleaning my drawers one day months ago and decided to take a picture. It is really not that bad. If you don't believe me go to youtube, search for makeup collection (or this one: the biggest makeup collection) and you will see I don't have that much.

This was not bought on one day, it has taken me a while, some has been gifted by friends

the Hubs- this was from Christmas a year ago..

    (Tarte Jewlery Box Palette)

and even a male coworker that lost a bet about the sex of my baby when I was pregnant, ended up getting me my set of Brushes from Arbone. (Mine is light sage green)

I made sure I follow sales and coupons and even ebay...

Then of course two of the Hubs cousins work a counters (Kiehls and Sephora) and I get TONS of samples :) don't hate.

However, I have not been buying anything lately. I think I have enough for now, plus I am trying to get in my head the difference between a NEEDS and a WANTS. See, I'm getting it.
So I've decided to do another post in regards to my Nail Polish collection...yes, I have a collection...and I'll tell you some tricks on how to score free nail polishes :) Ok? cool.

Until then, I still have to play Dinosaurs with my little guy, bathe him, get him to bed and THEN go pick up the Hubs at the train.

Back to Friend Makin' Modays: Getting to know you

Yay for another FMM. Is going to be a great distraction from cleaning the bathroom and caring for the Hubs (he is still sick, and so is the little one). So here we go!

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers.

    FMM: Getting To Know You

    1) What is one of your favorite ways to spend a Saturday? Lately I've been very lazy due to sleep deprivation issues. I would rather be going out to breakfast and then going to flea markets with the Hubs.

    2) List your top three favorite TV shows. Anything on Discovery I.D (I know way too much about criminals and Serial Killers); How I met your Mother, watching reruns of Agatha Christie's on my local PBS. UPDATE: I forgot to include my two loves right now: Grimm and Once Upon a Time

    3) Would you rather be in pictures or take them? both, depending who takes them. My hubs always takes horrible pics of me.

    4) Why do you blog? I stated blogging after having the little one, as a way to document our lives, then now is just a nice place to connect to other women out there, learn a few things :)

    5) Share five websites that you visit regularly…

    -Facebook
-thenailnetwork (addictive for nail polish lovers)
-Youtube- I follow tons of Beauty Guru's such as makeupgeek, MakeupbyTiffanyD, nvmakeuplover.
-thirftydecorchic (a blog about home decor)
    -many more blogs :)

    6) If you could have lunch with one person from your Twitter list who would it be?…I don't tweet nearly as much (maybe once a month) so would probably pick one of the beauty gurus that I do follow, such as makeupgeek.

    7) List a few of your favorite snacks. not many...grapes, popcorn, potato chips with sour cream (I know-bad), cheese...I love cheese.

8 ) Do you have a pet? If so, what kind? yes, right now only Queen Pearl the cat, who is 13 and rules the house. At one point I had a cat, a Lab/ Husky mix dog, an Umbrella Cockatoo, a red belly parrot and a red ear slider turtle.

    9) Which three material possessions would you struggle to live without? I-mac, makeup, my car.

    10) What’s your favorite drink? Coffee and Coke (terrible I know), I'm getting to drink much more water since I don't drink Juice or tea.

    11) Do you enjoy cooking? yeap, which I would have never guess 20 yrs ago, I hated it then.

    12) Do you have children? yes, 3. Our two boys and the Hubs bwahahahaha. and maybe more some day...

    13) What are your favorite hobbies? I guess makeup is a hobby (see pictures below), crafting such a scrapbooks, photography, reading lots of fiction.

    14) Would you consider yourself to be shy or outgoing? Way too outgoing. That's why I don't drink alcohol :)

    15) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change? I’d change two things: being better with money and being healthier. I would have started exercising sooner and making better choices.

    16) Who is your favorite actor/actress? I love Keanu Reeves. Seriously. Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls, Parenthood) is one of my favorite actresses. I adore David Suchet as Hercule Poirot .

    17) What’s the coolest thing you’ve done this week? nothing exciting this week, we came from NYC after the 2nd and everyone has been sick.

    18) Do you live near your family or far from them? My younger Sister lives 5 minutes from me. Cousin's, aunts, etc about 2-4 hours from us. The rest of my siblings and my parents are in another country.

    19) List three of your talents. I'm a master of cleaning and organizing. I am a great friend and love helping people. I can dance like the best of them- Salsa, merengue, bachata, bring it on!

    20) What is your greatest attribute? I am a pretty good listener and I don't tend to judge people.

I cannot wait to read the rest, is always interesting getting to know all of you.

    Over & out.

No goals, no resolutions, just life

I know this is the time when we all put our hearts out there and say all the things we are going to do (exercise, drink more water, save money) and the things we are NOT going to do (eat a Super Size Doughnut right before bed). In truth in my mind I've always had goals for the new year.

It feels like a new opportunity to start over and do better. However, I am not doing that this time; not because I don't want to but because I have different things going on for a while now that I've been trying to work on. So far I have this:

    1. work on my marriage. Is not like we have major issues but I feel I have neglected my Hubs to be a better Mom. I've always put the kids first and him as sloppy third. It's sad to admit but is the truth. After a very horrible week moths ago, in which our argument escalated I realized I needed it to do better, and I am. Things are better, plans are being made for date nights. We cannot forget these guys are the ones we intend to spent the rest of our lives with, don't you want that life to be a wonderful one?

    2. I want to be happy with who I am. I want to feel beautiful and KNOW in my heart that no matter what size I am, I am me. Yes, I am still trying to do better, eat better, exercise more and all that gits, but I am no longer going to punish myself for being the size I am. This body has created TWO human beans, Now that's a Super Power. And I get Mariah, Jennifer and Janet. you are trying to sell me that if I loose weight I will be happier, that after having kids I have to put down those pounds in 2 months and not the almost 10 that took to put it on.
I am doing it the other way around. I am going to be happy with ME, love ME and see where that takes me, and if I loose the weight even the more fun. (I should also mention that my goal weight has been readjusted to being instead a state of feel. I'll know I'll reach my goal when I can run/walk 5 miles instead of a number on a scale).

3.I am working on being a better person. Simple, right? NOPE
I want to not criticized others, to accept them once and for all. To be a better friend, daughter, mother and wife. To love people for who they are and not trying to change them. The most difficult task for me is forgiveness. There are things I cannot forget and those are making things difficult. But I am working on them.

These are just a few, we also have been talking about finances, new opportunities, maybe even moving...New York? uhm...maybe.

So I sincerely hope if you have goals and new years resolutions that they are all successful, that you reach everything you want. But most of all to know that no matter what, that is OK to be you, whatever that may be. Wanting to do better is wonderful, but if you had a bad day remember, there is always tomorrow.

I'm off my peeps. Sickness still around as the little one has caught a nasty cough and the Hubs has the flu. I should wear a nurse outfit with all the sickness around me in the last month.

P.S. My SIL took this picture of me as a joke as we where heading out to the family New Years Eve party. Those heels and NYC do not get along :)

    And we are off...

We made it. Here is to another New Year and hopefully a better more hopeful one.

Chirstmas was a little off, it all started with my Sister's family getting sick. Christmas eve she didn't feel well and my niece was throwing up. I had to go there and set up her table for her.

Then from then it got worse, her in-laws where arguing (MIL calling the kiddos "Shit") it was bad. Then they had to take my niece to the ER. We actually where the normal ones, took some time to hunt down some Christmas lights,

but then the Next day was my little guys turn, from 1am on he trowed up all over the bed, comforters, my Hubs, etc. Then my Hubs got sick too.

The piles of laundry where both huge and disgusting!

Thankfully we all got better by midweek, I had tons to do, errands to run, things to pay, problems with our oldest on's bank account, just CRAZY.

Finally we made it Friday night to NYC to see the Hubs family. That was a real blast. We took the kiddos to see the Tree and the Rockefeller Center, I found a Anthropology store and got 4 more of my obsession: latte bowls. That Night the party was on, we danced a lot and ate some more. Sadly I forgot the camera so there just a few shots we took with my SIL camera.

The next day was a Birthday party with ridiculous amount of tripe soup YUK! I don' t eat that even if you paid me but the Hubs loves it. Thankfully there was also Roasted pork for those of us picky eaters.

We did some Karaoke, laugh so much that I almost peed my pants and of course sickness followed us around because our nephew that had been sick with a terrible cough got worse, having to nebulized him and we ended up in the ER at the end of the night. I stayed there till 2am, then went home to take care of her 8 wk old so that her Hubs could join her. I stayed up till 4am. I tell you, never a boring moment. Even yesterday we where supposed to just pack, order empanadas and get ready to come home, people started stopping by so we didn't leave until 5pm.

Oh, but we did enjoy ourselves and had a blast, and I cannot wait to go back.
I hope you all had a blast in a glass and that this year brings you many more fantastic things!
