Loving

Some of my current loves. We have a party to attend in NYC (Sept.) and I'm thinking a black cocktail dress-darn picture wont upload- matched with these or red pumps:

then I'm wearing now Essie Topless & Barefoot, and yes I change the place that I was going to.

Then this beauty. I don't care what anyone says, Apple is the BEST ever and this new Imac ROCKS!!!! I no longer have to wait forevaaaaaaaaaaa to load things. If I could marry it I would :)

and finally I got this, a Shashi bracelet from Shopbop

Seems that friendship bracelets are all the rage, I actually did a smaller version of this one from the AMAZING blog "Honestly WTF"

Here is theirs (they have a link where you can get the bracelet)

And here is my tiny one, I just wanted to practice and this gold bracelet is all I had, I'm going to try to find a medium size one and try it again...

So what are you up to?

Friend Makin Monday's 6-27

Seems to me like lately the only way for me to write a post is with the FMM :) I love them, I love reading about other people's lives and seeing that after all, we all have something in common. I was trying to have a lazy week last week but wasn't so much so. This week my hectic schedule would get even more crazy, so bare with me.

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

FMM: What’s in Your Fridge?

  1. List a few common items that can always be found in your fridge. 1% milk, water, all sorts of juices, grapes, yogurt, red onions, tortillas, cilantro and sadly, more often than not, soda.
  2. What kind of milk do you drink? 1% since thats what the little guy drinks, seems like we are always buying it.
  3. Do you prefer fresh or frozen vegetables? I rather have fresh fruit, but veggies can go either way.
  4. What do you currently have to drink in the fridge? Water, milk, 2 types of lemonades -the 50 cal ones, Ice tea (yuk!), Vanilla coke Zero-only one can, Orange juice...I think that's it
  5. How often do you clean out your refrigerator? Every time before I plan to go shopping, I go thru what's old, what we ran out, etc.
  6. What’s the healthiest thing in it right now? Fruit and veggies, and I guess water.
  7. What’s the most unhealthy thing in it right now? Soda :( the hubs bought some soda last night including his Orange Fanta...already told him this is not good at all
  8. What do you wish you had in it that you don’t have now? more fruit and veggies, we just ran out of strawberries, bananas and grapes. I also want to try the sugar peas after reading Kenz post.
  9. How often do you shop for groceries? I usually do a big shopping every 2 weeks to both the market and BJ's, then we go as we need items a few times… milk, water and juice goes really fast.
  10. What’s the weirdest thing in your fridge right now? lingonberry jam (thanks Ikea) and plantains since not many people get them.
So there you have it, a view into our fridge. This post has left me in the mood to clean it, reorganize it and shop for veggies. What's in yours?

The Big C

I mentioned that this past weekend we went to NYC to spent time with family. I didn't mentioned that we also stopped on the way back to see my oldest Brother. Let me give a little info on our relationship. He is my Father's child from his first marriage, however his mother died when he was young so my Mom practically raised him too. He left my homeland before I was born to come to the US so I met him in person when I was 22. We always spoke on the phone so I felt like I knew him but I was not as close to him as with my other siblings.

He is divorced and his kids live abroad. For the past year he had been sick and we though he had Gastritis. About 2 weeks ago he called me to say he was in the hospital with lots of pain (had been there for 5 days before calling me) and that they where running some test.

When I called him over the weekend I asked if he had the results and he said that we would talk when I stopped by. On Sunday when I saw him for Father's day he looked so frail, it seems he had lost about 40lbs.

He proceeded to tell us they found two tumors (one much bigger than the other) turns out he has Colon Cancer. I just hold him and cry. I couldn't just hold it in. He is all alone there, no family near by - except for crazy oldest Sis that neither of us speak to because (duh) she is NUTS. He is having to deal with figuring out how to go to the Hospital for radiation and chemo since he can't drive, it is just so sad. Thankfully he has been working as a Manager in the same place for over 20 yrs and they are all taking turns to see him, bring him food (it's a Restaurant) and over all looking out since they know we are far.

It doesn't look good though, he is not having surgery. He told me to please make sure the Hubs and I take care of ourselves, that we don't wait to be sick to loose the weight and get healthy. What can you said to someone who now has a different perspective of life and death?

All I can say is that now, more than ever, I'm determined to cherish my time with my family, to do what's best for us regardless of what others think of our choices, to get healthier, to do better, and specially pray a little more.

FRIEND MAKING MONDAYS 6-13

I'm so freaking glad is Monday. This weekend was so sad for me. I realize that I'm not doing all I can to get healthy and I'm so mad at myself. This is something that I really need to focus right now, I'm 35 and short and Obese according to the charts. I finally said to myself: "Instead of complaining about how you look in pictures and how you feel, FREAKING GET UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT". and so I did. I exercise and ate salads and fruit and was under my calories. The bitchin' part? I weighted myself and I gained 4 lbs since the last time. UGH. I have to really put my ass in gear and do this for me, I need it.

My next Birthday is in a few months and my goal is to have gone down at least a size or two by then. I know I can and I WILL, I have to. Anyways...

It’s Monday which means it’s time for FMM! If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at:www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

FMM: If you lived in a movie, which one would it be? And which character would you play?

For me it's not a movie but a TV show...Definitely Lauren Graham in " Gilmore Girls",

We have the same sense of humor, the same weird life, we both had kids at 16, and of course said relationship is so weird and unusual but awesome at the same time. We are both addicted to coffee, the same taste in movies, magazines, music -hellu "the Bangles"?!- and have movie nights full of junk (gotta work on that one). The fact that we both had awful relationships (both with our mother's and boys) doesn't help our causes either. I have a weird sense of style like her, somedays very professional and put together, some days a weird t-shirt and cowboy boots. I don't look anything like her, but personality wise I'm right there...and don't even start with the inappropriate comments and jokes, yeap, we are both there. She sums me up better than I can express it myself and I love it.

hecks even the hubs had a collection of plaid shirts that Luke would envy (her love interest in case you don't know) so I married my Luke, but mine uses a red cap instead of blue.

95% of the shirts where donated by the time we got married but now I miss them. My kid and hubs both said there is no wonder I love this show so much since we are so alike. Now if only one day I can get to her size (with bigger boobs of course).

Oh, and I have to tell you that this week I've been so inspired by Shania Twain and her new song..."Today is your day" I need to play this every morning

"You got what it takes you can win, Today is your day to begin. Don’t give up here, don’t you quit. The moment is now, this is it Today is your day And nothing can stand in your way. Today is your day, And everything’s goin’ your way"

Now it’s your turn. Share your answer, and don’t forget to come back and link up! Happy Monday!

Life is so much funnier when you have a dirty mind.

Like mine, but since is almost 2am and I'm listening to Alanis Morissette something bad could come out , so I will abstain my self....This has been a quiet week and I say I like it like that, next week oldest is going to college and I would be going insane with things to do, plus I have to become creative with the little guy since we have 2 weeks off from his learning center/play time. Here is the low down so far (where the hell did I get my wording, must be from hanging with certain teenager) This week my new love arrived, yay!

We got a Bissell quick steamer and I'm in love. Seriously, the Hubs asked what I wanted for mothers day and this is what I wanted. Having carpet and a two year old that loves making prints in it with his grape juice drives this OCD Mother bonkers. I could not live like that and renting a machine is actually more expensive so here she is (her name is Catalina btw). She is a smaller machine and you do have to change/refill the water more often but that's ok for me. I've already tried it and it made a HUGE difference. Now there are some spots that are still there but I'm planning on getting Shaklee products to clean them so no worries there. (darn I get way to enthusiastic about cleaning devices).

Also as I mentioned before we had a summer BBQ with the little guy's @ the center...

My bubba smirks like his daddy

dont you love his friend with the red shades? so cute. And below is us, me with no makeup and all sweaty from playing outside

Oh, and this is my new lover: titiritups, as bubba calls him

He is part of the home decor- as seen on side table below- as our beautiful, smart, hyper two year old thinks every single item in the house is for him to play....see that small bird cage on the table got already a metal leave taken off {yes, I said a metal leave, and yes he ripped it off}

But that's ok, this is the time for him to explore and get messy, and I'm just gonna deal with it. And my hubs is so good to me. He told me he was going to Target with the little guy and disappeared for two hours (that would be normal for me, not for him). When he came back he surprise me with this watch (btw NOT from Target):

LOVE! he is so sweet and seriously I was already happy with my carpet cleaner but he said that was not an appropriate mothers day gift, and who am I to argue, eh? {btw Mother's day for us is the last Sunday in May}
Now please ignore my nails, since this is the aftermath of that horrible service I had, and no, I didn't loose a finger. I'm wearing OPI "Lincoln Park after Dark"

So that was it for me, now I'm on the hunt for a new nail place and looking forward (yeah, OK) to one hectic week.

Loving...because I can hate way too many things

Yeas, I'm bitchy and cranky sometimes. Today my oldest said I was moody because while I was on the phone making a phone call he wanted to show me this gross video of guys making a chicken, inside a turkey, with like 8 other types of meat, plus bacon, inside a pork...covered in bacon. GROSS! Obviously my and his priorities are a little different...but I did watch it afterwards 'cause how else is a mother going to bond with an 18 yr old if not with gross youtube videos?

Anyway... (said in my fake Ellen Degeneres voice)

Here is a small list of things that make me so UBBER happy right now, in no particular order {and nothing supper life changing, except that I made the list and that should be enough to brighten anyone's day...just saying}:

  • Finding a great shirt, that fits me perfectly and came out to $2 on sale!
  • Having a way to pay for things without credit cards ( I WUW YOU QVC)
  • on that note, a brand spanking new carpet steam cleaner that we can afford!
  • My husband taking the kiddo out for 2 hours so I can do my cleaning in peace and with LOUD music.
  • Clean Laundry, love doing it, love the smell, I'm.a.freak.
  • Starting to get the hang of coupons thanks to Passions for Savings
  • Having a printer that works
  • Meaghan Smith's voice
  • Listening to VH1's One hit wonders of the 90's
  • The Bangles "Manic Monday" enough said.
  • The Kiddo asking for help to get off his high chair, then running around screaming "I'm free, I'm free". He is soooooo my kid.
  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Free printables :)
  • summer breeze
  • planning a weekend with family
  • Lemonade!
awww, that's it for now...I leave you with this lovely tune

Friend Making Mondays...and frustration

First I have to say there is a few things you don't know about me.For example: I like to read magazines back to front. Don't know why, I just do.

Also, being that I'm a little (ok a lot) OCD some things just really irritate me. For one I wish I had more patience, I don't tend to lash on people

but I hate when I have a clean house and someone decides to make a mess, or not put the toilet paper over instead of under, or when I pay for

a service and I don't get what I want.

Last time I went for a many I got so frustrated because the lady made a mess, I ended up having to go 3 times in one week. The second time was for her

to fix it and it looked worst. The Third I asked the owner to re-do them. Well it happened again this weekend, only that the owner was the one who did them

and not only am I not happy with the mess she made, she cut me…twice, the second time she giggle. I wanted to break a bottle of nail polish on her forehead but I refrained

myself, she apologize but she made such a mess with the polish that she had to clean it up with acetone. SO Imagine my thrill with 2 cuts and being cleaned with acetone.

So I'm going to be good and avoid going to jail for attacking a manicurist with her own nail file I'm going to find a new place to go. Uff, OK I vented, now back to the regular schedule.

It’s Monday again, which means it’s time for Friend Makin’ Mondays! This week, I’m going to ask a common question that will probably yield different answers from each of us!

FMM.jpg

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

FMM: Why Do You Blog?

I started blogging when I went back to work after having the little guy- I created the blog prior but never did anything with it. There is tons of things I love like makeup, nail polish, decorating , etc, but I didn't want to created a blog that was specific. I decided that since for most of my life I had a journal this would be a great way for me to do the same. I never expected to encounter such a big community. There are tons of wonderful people, but there is also a hole bunch of angry trolls out there hiding behind a computer screen. It saddens me that a lot of people use this forum to be angry and nasty to people they don't even know.

If anything I've learned that there is so many views out there, so many stories, we need to learn to be respectful, to be kind, to understand one another. It also has taught me that I have so much potential, that I can conquer anything if I put my mind to it, that there are tons of good people out there, willing to give you encouragement. I love it.

Now tell us your story and Happy Monday!

This week in review

I'm so glad this week is over. Last weekend we started with a lovely BBQ at my Sister's home so I offer to decorate. I got this free printable from this blog {I will post it soon, the info is on my son's laptop}. I'm definitely going to reused for 4th of July. Love it, here are some images...

I finally had what I think would be the last trip of getting everything setup for our oldest to attend College (he starts next week!) so we are done with that. Then the little guy had 2 days of the learning center and one day trip- which he loved- riding the bus was so much fun.

I had tons more pics but blogger hates me today so maybe I'll add them later. In other news, I want to introduce the new member of our family:

I'll think of a lovely name for such a precious darling. I got to tell you, I have been dreaming of her since the years I studied Interior Design, all they tell you is how much better they are, that CAD runs so much better with it, blah, blah, blah. And you know what? They are all true. She is a beauty and I cannot be happier.

Yes, material things make happy. It has been a little adjustment but this darn thing not only sells it self, but as soon as you turn her on (hehehehe dirty) she interconnects with everything and Voila, all done and ready to go. LOVE HER!

So it has been a busy week but a lovely one, this weekend we are going to rest (read clean for me) and leave our trip to NYC for a few more weeks. I think I'm going to visit the INGLOT store to see the new makeup palettes.

What was your week like? Tell me, I really do want to know.
